General information about stainless steel profiles

Stainless steel sections are very commonly used products. One important reason for this is the positive properties of stainless steel: stainless steel sections are, among other things, stainless and durable. If they are no longer needed, they can be easily recycled. As a result, stainless steel sections meet strict sustainability criteria.

Stainless steel sections can be used universally. They can be used not only indoors, but also outdoors. Sections are available in many different shapes so that finished parts can be made from merchandise with comparatively little effort. The durability and weather resistance also contribute to the fact that stainless steel sections are becoming more and more popular as a construction material.

Stainless steel sections are used, for example, in the automotive industry as guide rails in windows. A stainless steel section can also be used to make guide rails for machines. Stainless steel sections are also used in medical technology. In the building industry they are often used as substructures for lightweight construction and partition walls as well as for fixing wood, glass and other building materials.

How are stainless steel sections produced?

Stainless steel sections can be produced by various processes. One method is hot rolling. The primary material is heated and rolled into the desired shape. So-called continuous casting billets are often used as starting material.

Alternatively, stainless steel sections can be produced by the cold drawing process. The starting material is brought into its final shape on drawing benches. This process increases the strength of the stainless steel sections. If the sections are to be further formed afterwards, they must first be heated.

A third production method for stainless steel sections is cutting. Here the material is created by cutting a sheet with the appropriate dimensions.
